grow not weary

Hey Reader,

By now you’ve probably seen the election results.

As you figure out next steps, remember: this isn’t your first time navigating change, uncertainty, and disruption.

You are smart, strong, and resilient. Your mission remains the same. And the world needs you more than ever.

In times like these, it’s important to create space for yourself before recommitting to the work.

If you’ve ever flown on an airplane, you’ve probably heard this safety instruction many times: “In the event of a sudden drop in pressure, an oxygen mask will drop from above. Secure your own mask first before assisting others.”

It may be tempting to jump into rescue mode right away for the sake of your team and organization.

But I invite you to pause and check in with yourself first. What do YOU need to be okay right now? Take a moment to catch your breath and refill your own cup.

Taking a moment for yourself now will allow you to be more fully present for others later.

There’s a saying I heard often when I was growing up that I find comforting in challenging times: “Let us not grow weary in well-doing.”

As you take time to regroup, I invite you not to give into weariness. Now is not the time to give up or give in.

Yes, press pause. Step back. Take a deep breath.

Then get back up and continue doing the good work. Because you were created to withstand times like this.

Onward and upward,

Meico
